Mal’s Thoughts: Thrive Market
My ideal Saturday morning includes waking up, drinking coffee on the couch, and heading to the store with myself. Since January of 2019, almost every weekend included a snowstorm that made my relaxing store trip feel more like a stressful chore I needed to find time for.

During the week I have a typical 9-5 and want to get home right after work to take my dogs out and give them the attention they want/need. The last thing I want to do is be forced to go to the store during the week when I see a big weekend snowstorm coming. I searched around for some online options and after trying a few I came across my favorite; Thrive Market.
There are 3 things that made Thrive Market stick out from the rest of the online stores. Those include convenience, price, and quality.
Convenience
The first thing I noticed when I landed on the front page of Thrive, was that you could shop by category. As someone who eats a mostly plant-based diet, this was EXTREMELY helpful. I didn’t have to look at every label to check ingredients because I knew everything I was looking at was plant-based.

They have a TON of plant-based options including food, vitamins, beauty, home, and pet products. I was impressed pretty quickly with this feature alone. For people with allergies, you can even search for the big 8 allergen free products. You can tell Thrive put a lot of work into making a shopping trip with them as easy and convenient as possible.
Price
Price is always going to be the biggest indicator as to if I will stick with something. A lot of times with online stores, it is common to pay a little more for the convenience. Compared to the brick and mortar store I go to weekly, I would say the prices were very comparable.
They offer free shipping on orders over $49 which is easy to do when grocery shopping. On your first order, you get 25% off so it is definitely worth trying out at least once.

Like a lot of other grocery stores, they have their own brand of products that help to drive the price down. Thrive’s own products have a wide range of categories and can fit into a lower budget. I think my favorite part is, you can search for an item that you want on the search bar and it comes up with several different brands so you can compare prices.
At the end of your shopping trip make sure to hit the “Deals” button at the top. This is where you can get a free item if you met their threshold of purchases. They have a lot of good products in this section so don’t forget to check it out!
Quality
If you are buying something at Thrive there is a pretty big chance it is going to be organic and contain zero harmful ingredients. I love that this isn’t something I have to even think about when I shop here.
Everything has tasted great and is made with high-quality ingredients. Now I just need to figure out how to quit my addiction to Lemon Luna Bars. I literally want one for breakfast, mid-day snack, and after dinner treat. I gotta get it under control.

Final Thoughts
I plan to use Thrive for most of my grocery needs. I will still probably go to the store for produce but it is much cheaper and more convenient to get grocery/beauty items from Thrive. I also love that it gets delivered to my door for free and I don’t have to worry about getting to the store if there is a blizzard outside.
